Those who know don't say

I STARTED TO WRITE A POST ON RELIGION, AND IT SOUNDED AS DRY AND STERILE AS ORGANIZED RELIGION; SO I DELETED IT.

SPIRIT IS TO RELIGION AS DISCOVERY IS TO ROTE LEARNING.

I DON'T CARE IF THE RELIGION IS
MATRIARCHAL OR PATRIARCHAL,
PAGAN OR CHRISTIAN,
WICCAN OR MUSLIM,
ASCETIC OR HEDONISTIC,
BUDDHIST OR EPICUREAN,
GODDESS-WORSHIPPING OR GOD-WORSHIPPING...
IF IT INVOLVES A PRIESTESS OR PRIEST, COUNT ME OUT.

SO MUCH OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR IS BASED ON COPYING THE BEHAVIOR OF OTHERS; THOSE WHO COPY BEST GARNER PRAISE.

WHICH IS FINE FOR MATTERS MUNDANE.

FOR SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE, HOWEVER, THERE IS A DIFFERENT WAY OF LEARNING AND PROCEEDING-- FOR THE WAY IS SUBTLE.

AS TO KNOWLEDGE OF 'THE WAY',

'THOSE WHO SAY', DON'T KNOW...

AND THOSE WHO KNOW, DON'T SAY...

Those who say, don't know ..

And those who know, don't say.

I like that.

"If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him." I'm sure it means what you're saying here. Once you know anything, think you understand it all and you feel the need to structure it and pass it on, you've just about lost it, haven't you?
I loved "spirit is to religion as discovery is to rote learning."

Can we have an amen, brothers and sisters?

Mary and LJ:

You "ladies"(or,'women')have made my day...

Supporting each other is what it's all about...

...and I am grateful, like a preschooler, for any and all attempts at understanding, appreciation, or exegesis.

Half an hour ago, in a phone conversation with an old friend, we said almost exactly the same thing, Chuck... sloppier, of course... ;-)
