AT SEA
Leaving clothes, I head towards the water-
Passing boys and sandcastles, kids splashing through beach foam,
Dads tossing children into the brine- and moms and toddlers filling buckets...
Passing two girls jumping through waves-
At length, I find myself in open water (my toes won't touch bottom)-
The receding wave pulls me away from land- I begin to breaststroke
Parallel to shore- by small degrees my course slowly angles towards land...
I am "at sea"...then again, I am always "at sea"...
